November Remembrance Masses for our Faithful Departed | Parishes of Narraghmore and Moone

In November we remember our Faithful departed. Our annual Remembrance Masses will take place on the following dates in the Parishes of Narraghmore, Moone & Athy. All Remembrance Masses commence at 7:30pm .

St. Michael’s Church, Athy – Monday 17th November
Ss. Mary & Laurence Church Crookstown – Wednesday 19th November
Church of the Blessed Trinity Moone – Thursday 20th November
St. Ita’s Church Kilmead – Monday 24th November

Reflection

The gospel for the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C, focuses on the theme of perseverance in prayer. The reflection centers on Jesus's parable of the persistent widow and the unjust judge in Luke 18:1-8, emphasizing that if an unfair judge can be moved to grant a request due to persistence, then a loving and just God will certainly answer the prayers of his chosen people, even if not in the way or time we expect. The gospel also prompts reflection on what is truly essential, suggesting that our value comes from being created and loved by God, not from material possessions. The power of persevering, unremitting prayer is shown in the prayer of Moses and the persistence of the window. Prayer is fruitful when it is the expression of the faith of the believer.
